I had never heard of megachurches, Televangelists, or the Prosperity Gospel until I stumbled across Lisa Guerrero’s infamous interview with Kenneth Copeland on Inside Edition. What ensued was a dive into a rabbit hole unlike any other, from corrupt preachers to lavish lifestyles, claims of miracle healings, cultish followings, and New Age/New Thought concepts. A lot of these so-called preachers have gathered an incredible amount of wealth. Wolves in sheep’s clothing are a bundle. Still, when this metaphor involves the nefarious manipulation of those seeking to get closer to God, the stakes get considerably higher. Psychopaths or demonically possessed? Members of secret societies? This is the dark world of Megachurches.
